LA Fitness wanted a presence in the East Boca Raton market and found a premiere piece of property at Yamato Road and I-95. The site square footage was a challenge for LA Fitness but the location was ideal. The only way to make the site work for the club was to elevate the club floor and provide at grade parking below the gym. The result is a non-prototype building with a grand staircase and a large rotunda feature for the main entrance. A smaller corner rotunda feature with curved tilt-up panels occurs along the façade facing the main entrance road to the building.
Full height load bearing tilt-up panels were used for the building and curved rotunda features. Precast joists make up the main gym floor with an interior bar joist metal mezzanine for the elevated cardio area. The swimming pool is constructed in the front of the building requiring internal cast-in-place concrete retaining walls to contain the dirt fill and the pool shell. A sixty foot steel truss, created using rolled shapes, supports the long span roof trusses and the back support of the main rotunda feature.
